All Inclusive Mexico/Belize Vacation Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cancun, transfer to Merida.
his beautiful colonial settlement was founded in 1542 by the Spanish and has many buildings crafted with stone from the Mayan ruins. The main plaza is a hub of activity - especially in the evenings - when market stalls and street performers appear. Free afternoon/night. Overnight in Merida.
Day 2: Free morning, afternoon in Merida.
After a free morning in Merida you’ll be taken to Izamal, ‘the yellow city’. In Horse and carriage, tour one of the oldest colonial towns - where the Catholics burned many of the Mayan's ancient scripts! Shop for local handicrafts and enjoy a candle lit dinner after a visit to its Franciscan convent, built atop the ruins of a Mayan pyramid. On Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays the dramatic light and sound show depicts the lives of the Mayans in and around the City. Overnight in Merida.
Day 3: Daytrip to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve.
Home to more than 500 plant species and over 300 species of bird - seven of which are found nowhere else in the world! See the largest population of wild flamingos on Earth (over 30,000 of them!) and discover the untouched beauty of the Petrified Forest, the dense mangrove channels and sweet water springs. Celestun Wildlife ranges from Crocodiles, Turtles and Manatees to Jaguars, Tapirs and Spider Monkeys. (Please note: as with any wild creatures, we cannot guarantee sightings). Overnight in Merida.
Day 4: Chitzen Itza, drop-off in Playa Del Carmen.
The most popular Mayan ruin site in Mexico, Chitzen Itza, is considered by many to be the highlight of a visit to the Yucatan. A truly stunning archeological and visual treat! After a guided tour through the parks Mayan ruins, you’ll continue on to the popular coastal town of Playa Del Carmen. Overnight in Playa Del Carmen.
Day 5: Xcaret water park visit.
Think ‘National Geographic meets Disney’ - this eco-archeological theme park has it all! The Yucatan’s rich Mayan history and beautiful tropical lagoon ecology make for an entertaining and educating day out. Visit the Butterfly pavilion, tropical reef aquarium and snorkel in underground rivers, a warm lagoon or even with dolphins (dolphin encounters pre-booked separately). Overnight in Playa Del Carmen
Day 6: To the Cayes.
Transfer from Playa Del Carmen to Corozal, just across the Belizean border. From Corozal you will fly to San Pedro on Ambegris Caye to enjoy a free afternoon and evening. Overnight in San Pedro
Day 7 : Snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley.
Swim with nurse sharks and sting rays. The sharks here, growing to six feet long and the rays, with wing-spans of up to four feet, come close enough to be touched. They are not trained or enclosed but they will eat from your hand, if you can hold your nerve. Established almost 20 years ago the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is home to a huge variety of exotic fish and coral. And some top class snorkeling! Free afternoon and overnight in San Pedro.
Day 8: Sea Cows and Sea Horses.
A visit to Swallow Caye affords a once in a lifetime look at how the endangered manatee live in their natural habitat. Also, explore the tropical shores further by participating in the unique Sea Horse look out. Trip includes one snorkel stop at the beautiful coral gardens. (please note: as with any wild creatures, we cannot guarantee sightings, but we're prepared to offer great odds. Sea Horses 95% Manatees 100% guaranteed.) Free afternoon and overnight in San Pedro.
Day 9: Back to the Jungle.
After a short flight from San Pedro to Belize City, you'll transfer to the
Belize Jungle Dome, visiting the Belize Zoo on the way. More a wildlife sanctuary than a traditional zoo, this is an awesome display of Belize's colourful and diverse wildlife. By far the cutest zoo we've ever seen! The guided tour guarantees close encounters with the wildlife. After lunch, discover the Belizean jungle on horseback. Overnight at the Belize Jungle Dome.
Day 10: Guatemala temple trek.
After seeing the best of the Mexican Mayan ruins, its time to visit Guatemala on our Tikal daytrip. Once the capital of a vast Mayan empire (ca 700 AD), tikal is vast at 576 sq km. Despite its place as Guatemala’s premier tourist attraction, Tikal remains much less developed than most of the Mexican Mayan ruins. All around the temples the surrounding jungle teams with monkeys and more besides. Overnight at the Belize Jungle Dome
Day 11:
Cave tubing (&
zip lining (sort!!!!) optional).
Tubing along the same underground waterways the Mayans once used for ceremonial purposes, you'll pass beautiful stalactites & stalagmites and fascinating mayan artifacts. After lunch the dare-devils go zip lining (pre-booked separately). This Aerial Canopy Tour is the thrill seeker's perfect chance to discover the Belizean Wilderness. Overnight at the Belize Jungle Dome
 
Day 12: Full day river kayaking trip.
We offer several Kayaking Adventures, with instructional assistance for beginners and enough excitement to those with all levels of experience. Lunch and swimming at Clarissa Falls included. Overnight at the Belize Jungle Dome.
Day 13: Back to Mexico.
Transfer to Belize City, where you will fly to back Corozal and continue on to Tulum, Mexico. Tulum offers some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world and is the perfect place to wind down after 2 weeks of adventures. Free afternoon. Overnight in Tulum.
Day 14: Tulum morning excursion.
There's time to explore one more Mayan settlement before returning home: On the cliffs of Tulum, the ruins are surrounded by stunning beaches. Free afternoon. Overnight in Tulum.
Day 15: Transfer to Cancun airport.
